Welcome to the practice
Whether you're joining us as an NHS or private patient, your first appointment is all about
getting to know you, your teeth and your goals. Here's what to expect.
Before you arrive
- Please arrive about 10 minutes early to complete a short medical history form.
- Bring a list of any medications you take, and details of any medical conditions.
- If you're exempt from NHS charges, bring proof of exemption (e.g. benefit award letter or maternity exemption certificate).
At your appointment
- A chat first. We'll ask about your dental history, any problems or worries, and what you'd like from your smile.
- A thorough examination. Your dentist will check your teeth, gums, existing fillings and the soft tissues of your mouth, including a mouth cancer screen.
- X-rays if needed. Small digital X-rays help us spot decay between teeth and check tooth roots.
- Your personal plan. We'll explain what we've found in plain English, discuss your options, and give you a written estimate of any costs before treatment begins.
No surprises: you will always be told the cost of your dental
treatment in the surgery and given a written estimate at reception before any work starts.
