How professional whitening works

  1. Check-up first. We make sure your teeth and gums are healthy and that whitening will work for your type of discolouration.
  2. Custom trays. We take impressions and make thin, precisely fitting trays for your teeth.
  3. Whiten at home. You wear the trays with professional whitening gel, typically for a couple of weeks — day or night wear, to suit you.
  4. Top up whenever needed. Keep your trays; a night or two of gel refreshes the result for years.

Is it safe?

Yes — when prescribed and supervised by a dental professional. Whitening is legally restricted to dental professionals in the UK for good reason: beauticians' and online kits are either ineffective or dangerously acidic. Some temporary sensitivity during treatment is common and settles quickly.

Good to know: whitening works on natural teeth only — crowns, veneers and fillings don't change colour. If you're planning new front fillings or crowns, whiten first so we can match the new work to your brighter shade.
