White Fillings

Tooth-coloured, virtually invisible repairs - from just £40.

Fillings nobody can see

White fillings are made from composite resin — a tooth-coloured material that bonds directly to your tooth and is matched to its exact shade. The result is a repair that's virtually invisible. See the difference they make — from just £40.

Why choose white?

  • Natural appearance — matched to your own tooth colour.
  • Bonds to the tooth, which can mean less drilling and a stronger repair than silver amalgam, which relies on mechanical retention.
  • Versatile — used to repair decay, chips, worn edges and gaps, and to replace old silver fillings for a fresher look.
  • Sets instantly under a blue light — you can eat as soon as any numbness wears off.

What happens?

  1. The tooth is numbed (for small repairs you may not even need this) and any decay removed.
  2. The surface is prepared with a bonding gel.
  3. Composite is placed in thin layers, each set with a light, and sculpted to your tooth's shape.
  4. The filling is shaped, checked against your bite and polished to a natural sheen.

Replacing old silver fillings

Many patients ask us to swap visible silver amalgam fillings for white ones, particularly in teeth that show when smiling. It's usually straightforward — ask at your check-up whether yours are suitable.

Looking after them: white fillings last for many years with good care. Brush twice daily, clean between teeth, keep sugar to mealtimes — and they'll stay strong and invisible.
